WORDS FROM PETER KWOK- OWNER

In many ways, I was very lucky to not make a mistake at first, as I knew nothing about wine in 1997.

I was buying because I love France, and I wanted my children to experience the culture. I was born in Vietnam, where the coffee, music, and even the church all had a french flavour, and I wanted them to have the same experience. But I quickly realised that only the best soils can make exceptional wine. To improve wine, you need to be willing to take the long-term view. You also need the right team, to understand what you don't know and allow your team to tackle the necessary decisions.

For Peter Kwok, making wine in Bordeaux is part of his long love affair with French culture. His parents raised him in Saigon, where he says he learned to admire French architecture, dark-roast coffee and crunchy baguettes. He acquired Chateau Haut-Brisson in  1997, out of his passion for France and for his children to be lulled by French culture.

Château Tour Saint Christophe is located on the Saint Emilion Grand Cru appellation and is at the border between the two villages of Saint-Émilion and Saint Christophe des Bardes. The shape of the property is a unique feature among the vineyards of Saint-Emilion. It is partly planted on narrow terraces where the vineyard is tended in tight rows grouped by five. This micro landscape extends into the slope overlooking the St Laurent valley. The terroir of Château Tour Saint Christophe is clay-limestone: red clay soil, Astéries limestone with carbonated limestone characteristics.
