IN THE HEART OF TOKAJ-HEGYALJA
My name is Gábor Kardos. Since 2008, I have been running our family winery, Kardos Szőlőbirtok, together with my father. My father is responsible for the vineyard work, the winery and everything else belongs to me. Our family has a tradition of hundreds of years of grape production. We are currently farming 14 hectares in Mádo, the dominant settlement of the world-famous Tokaj wine region, which is considered part of the World Heritage, where grapes and wine have provided a livelihood for the families living here for generations.
We work with a clear, transparent offer, wine lovers can get to know Mád and the high quality inherent in the special Tokaj vineyard through our wines.
We work with the dominant and traditional grape varieties of the wine region, furmint, lime leaf and yellow muscat, from which we make characteristic dry white wines and late-harvest dessert wines. We are proud of the world-famous Tokaji aszu, which we only make in limited quantities in excellent vintages. We consider our latest such batch, our 2013 six-button Tokaj aszu, to be our top wine.
Keeping hundreds of years of tradition and premium quality in mind, we try to present the unique features of our excellent vineyards with careful cluster selection, crop limitation, and selective multiple harvests.
