Château Bastor Lamontagne, member of the Union des Grands Crus, a modern, innovative, elegant Sauternes.
The Bastor-Lamontagne vineyard is located on the second terrace of the Garonne. Its terroir is essentially gravelly-sandy, with a light clay matrix and plot variations due to the different proportions of gravel. Its average age is over 45 years old. This terroir predisposes to the production of rather fine wines with good acidity. The grape variety is made up of Sémillon (80%) and Sauvignon (20%), including a part of Sauvignon Gris.
The vineyard is made up of about thirty parcels, well grouped together and almost in one piece. The plots are mainly located in the commune of Preignac (apart from a small plot of 0.71 ha in the commune of Barsac, which was originally attached to Château Saint-Robert).
The vineyard rests largely on a sandy-gravelly plateau, within places clay-gravelly hilltops, particularly conducive to the production of great wines. The terroir, typical of the appellation, is located at the bottom of the middle terrace of Sauternes, the top of which is occupied by Château Suduiraut.
